Olive trees are a living and growing symbol of your support

Trees For Life is funded solely by grassroots movements around the world and solely invested in the fair trade movement in Palestine. This project helps offset the enormous destruction of olive trees by the Israeli occupation army in Palestine. Since 2006, you have planted over 343,373 trees! In 2023, more than 41,457 seedlings were planted with over 700 farmers in 40 villages! 2023 Trees for Life report.

Olive trees are a gift to the future, for the fruit they will bear in another decade is for the next generation. There is a Palestinian proverb, “they planted so we eat, and we plant so they eat”.

The olive grove recipient farmers are chosen by the Palestine Fair Trade Association from the applications received each year. Priority is given to small farmers, farmers who have lost trees to the Israeli destruction, women who own land and are interested in farming, and young farmers. The trees are 2 year old organic saplings.

Trees are planted between Tree Day, January 15, and Land Day, March 30. Besides the actual trees planted, this program helps connect the Palestinian farmers and producers in the fair trade movement in Palestine to the grassroots fair trade movement in Europe and North America.

An average PFTA farmer has 360 olive trees. The Trees for Life program has a huge impact on the farmers!
